 Lawrence Kohlberg (October 25, 1927 – January 19, 1987) was an American psychologist best known for his theory of the stages of moral development.  He served as a professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chicago and in the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University.  Harvard University professor Lawrence Kohlberg developed the theory of moral development in 1970.

 1.Pre-conventional stage(4 to 10 years) –

 There are two stages under this level

 The family members order the child to do the work, if the child does not do that work then the child is punished.
